Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

There is one who I could follow. One I could call king.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

He's nacho king

[–] HappySkullsplitter@lemmy.world 54 points 5 days ago (4 children)

Man, that made me look that up. That tweet is from 2018

It's been 7 years... dear god

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 25 points 5 days ago

Kid could be like 20% nacho by now

[–] Tyrq@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

What 2018 was two years ago...

Right?

Speaking as an elder millennial who insists that every time during the 90s was 10 years ago and always will be, your math checks out 😁

[–] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 9 points 5 days ago

Damn, guy's probably studying in college now. If he's like I was in school, he's likely still 1% nacho

Nacho boy is now 20. Could have a kid of his own... who might also be part nacho.

[–] hobovision@mander.xyz 37 points 5 days ago (1 children)

That's a great goal. Specific metrics. Verifiable. Reasonably achievable.

This kid is going places. Probably to the toilet for a while.

I once drank 3 liters of water just to be 3kg heavier. Oh boy does it get hard to drink water after 2L and not going to piss.

[–] TheRealKuni@piefed.social 1 points 4 days ago

Just wait til you need a colonoscopy.

I mean, you ARE allowed to piss. And drain your bowels. But it still gets really hard to keep drinking.

1% Nacho

99% boy

100% reason to remember the name.

[–] ultrafastsloth@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

I’m nacho boy, guy!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

NA CHO NACHO BOOOOY ¡I WANT TO BE! A NA CHOOOH BOY

[–] Caketaco@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Wtf they removed the “I’m 1% nacho son” punchline

[–] 0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 5 days ago

He's currently 100% cho son

[–] katkit@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago

He's gonna win two truths and a lie for the rest of his life.

[–] karashta@piefed.social 19 points 5 days ago

It's good to have achievable goals.

[–] HowAbt2day@futurology.today 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He’s now 300lbs and eats 5 pounds of nachos, over exceeding our expectations.

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 5 days ago

I, William shatner, present to you tonight, a story about a man; the distant future drags on, what was once man is now mostly nacho...

[–] YoiksAndAway@piefed.zip 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He'll probably never be 1% nacho again. This kid peaked in his teens.

[–] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (4 children)

Am I the only person with a fit 140lb boy that is barely 13?

[–] YoiksAndAway@piefed.zip 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I guess that's still doable for a teenage boy at 140lb. 1.4 lb of corn chips and fixins sounds like an awful lot to me, but teenage boys do seem to be able to pack away an ungodly amount of food with little or no consequences.

[–] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

He could pack that in. I didn't think of it that way. Easier to make totchos for extra calories!

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I was also thinking that "about to be 100 lbs" sounded closer to age 9.

[–] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Yeah, my just turned 10 is a 110lb toothpick. Very tall though.

[–] Im_old@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

No, I was probably the same. Puberty hits everyone very differently

[–] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Yeah. He recently ate about 5000 kcals before lunch. To be fair, he was sick the week before.

i was 120 from age like 12 to age 18. i just kinda stretched. i was also always at least a little underweight.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

60-70% of Adolf Hitler's body was dihydrogen-monoxide! Ban dihydrogen-monoxide now!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

because eating queso is what separates the men from the boys. you get optimal cheese coverage on every chip. 100% cho, 0% nah.

when he's a man he can set reasonable goals, like being five percent butter

[–] funksoulkitchen@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

200 pound person, 10 pounds butter seems doable. Will be 2% bread too probably

Some assumptions and math: 4.535924 kilos = 10 pounds. Butter is 0.95 kilo per liter. That's 4.31 liters butter. Assume 180 pounds human, 10 pounds butter, 10 pounds garlic seems to have the right ratio (maybe a little low on garlic). Garlic is 0.57 kilos per liter. 4.535924 kilos of garlic is 2.59 liters of garlic. Total 6.90 L garlic butter. The human gastrointestinal tract holds: stomach = ~1.5L small intestine = ~2L large intestine = ~2L total 5.5L. We would need 1.4 L more to fit this all comfortably. That's just one extra stomach. In this article I will demonstrate...

[–] kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Afterwards you can tell him that your stomach is on your outside, we are donuts.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

are boston creme pies donuts? is the bavarian creme outside those too? is there a good reason we're not eating some right now?

[–] kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 days ago

I mean, yes they are donuts and no it's not. I said donut as a colloquialism for toroid. Which most donuts are to the point that most people call toroids donuts even though not all donuts are toroids.

[–] funksoulkitchen@lemmy.zip 5 points 5 days ago

Thats awesome. We could all get a food scale and people scale and calculate that on every meal!

[–] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Why doesn't he just eat nacho now. He could still be 1% macho, but he wouldn't have to eat as much.

On the contrary: at 13 he'd still be growing, and 99 lbs is very little for a fully grown woman, let alone man.

He'd probably have to eat at the VERY least a pound and a half of them now if he wants to be 1% nacho again.

[–] stevedice@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 days ago

I know many Ignacios who are 100% Nacho.
