Birds lay eggs, like women do Monthly.

Bees pollinate everything, like men do.

I'm making this up completely. Did I guess right?

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 1 points 1 hour ago

I'm a large lizard and very hungry.

[–] Landless2029@lemmy.world 37 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Plot twist.

They're both just unisex single bathrooms

[–] MyDarkestTimeline01@ani.social 15 points 8 hours ago (5 children)

Honest question: how is this not the solution to the whole "trans bathroom" barking? It solves literally every issue for both sides.

[–] ArsonButCute@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 6 hours ago

You forgot the actual issue. The cruelty is the point. They don't want us to have a bathroom at all, that way they can murder/rape/arrest/harass us when we use the rublic restrooms.

[–] craftrabbit@lemmy.zip 21 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I love bouldering. In my bouldering gym they have labelled the bathrooms with "bathroom" and "bathroom & urinal" and it works beautifully. I can definitely see that not working out in some other places though.

[–] MyDarkestTimeline01@ani.social 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

What in the world is bouldering?

[–] MummysLittleBloodSlut@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 7 hours ago (1 children)
[–] stray@pawb.social 4 points 7 hours ago

To add, it's distinct from regular rock climbing in that you don't use a rope and have to climb back down.

[–] plyth@feddit.org 3 points 6 hours ago

Because public toilets in the US come with bathroom stalls that have doors with gaps. So everbody can see the people who are sitting on the toilets.

[–] knexcar@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago (3 children)

Unisex bathrooms have a worse capacity-to-space ratio compared to regular ones - aka they can’t handle as many people. Which means they’re not a suitable replacement for places with a high volume of bathroom visits.

[–] possumparty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 7 hours ago

in most Nordic countries, they don't care about gendered bathrooms in a large number of places. the solution is easy- extend the doors lower and higher on the stalls. they also don't have a problem with seat pissers for whatever reason

[–] MummysLittleBloodSlut@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

You're thinking of single occupancy bathrooms. Unisex bathrooms have the same capacity as segregated

[–] knexcar@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

The original comment said unisex single occupant, and unisex multi occupant bathrooms are almost unheard of. I only know they exist because one arcade bar near me made their bathrooms all gender but I feel like they only get away with it due to being in a very liberal area.

[–] MyDarkestTimeline01@ani.social 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I don't mean to have one toilet in one larger room, but to have several(more than two) small rooms with one toilet a piece along like a hall or something. Same total square footage as a traditional public restroom, just structured to be a single occupant. Think like a line of portapotties.

[–] knexcar@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Do the small rooms still have sinks though, or are they shared? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a bathroom like this. Are the “rooms” the same size/layout as standard bathroom stalls, just more private?

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

I've seen this before. The rooms are like "traditional" bathroom stalls in size and amenities, with the sinks in one place outside. It ends up being structured a lot like a normal multi-person bathroom, just with real rooms for each stall.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 hours ago

It is, and I've slowly been seeing more of them

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago

I genuinely hope this is the real answer.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 48 points 19 hours ago (6 children)

In the USA, will I be deported to El Salvador for picking the wrong one?

[–] ClownStatue@piefed.social 13 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Depends on which state this happens in. The south? Absolutely!

It's because birds have cloaca just like human women.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Oh shit, will my stinger fall off if I, umm, sting someone?

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Only female bees have stingers.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 1 points 47 minutes ago* (last edited 47 minutes ago)

Lol Yes, I think I've seen a few nature docs in my life

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 53 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (4 children)

Bird is slang for women.

I can only imagine Bee is for men because "penis = stinger?" 🤷‍♂️

What if I ain't got no penis due to an unfortunate gold smelting accident?

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 37 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

Traditionally birds = women because they make nests

Bees = men because they pollinate.

Please do disregard the fact that bees make hives/nests AND birds pollinate

[–] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 6 points 11 hours ago

Worker bees are female. Male bees only hang around the queen for sex.

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 30 points 17 hours ago (1 children)
[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Right, but it’s a metaphor not a science experiment

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Right, but male birds are usually the “pretty” ones because they have to impress the females with their display, and bees are all female, so it seems like a terribly inaccurate metaphor, if we can even call it that

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Yes. I pointed that out in my original comment also.

Since birds pollinate and bees make nests, it as youve pointed out sexual dimorphism in birds tends to have them as the pretty ones.

It’s a weak metaphor

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

They both do both, lol. Not arguing with you by the way. I’ve just never heard this as a thing before other than the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees and the moon up above… I assume it vaguely comes from that maybe, but I’ve never heard men and women as birds and bees or whatnot

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 1 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

Yeah the talk kids get is often called “the birds and the bees”

The birds are used to signify mommy making her nest and laying an egg and bees “pollinate flowers”

It’s a metaphor for little kids.

The scientific aspects of the species are moot because it’s a very basic metaphor for how sexy times works.

I’d also like to note that because of how ambiguously and interchangeably everything fits in the analogy I’m POSITIVE the version I’m familiar with is not the only version so it could likely be flip flopped elsewhere.

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 1 points 6 hours ago

6 7 !!!!!!!

[–] Starstarz@lemmy.world 12 points 17 hours ago (3 children)

It's impossible for me to forget that all bees (& wasps & ants) are order HYMENOPERTA, literally named for them being 99% virgin females

So I am totally stumped.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Bees fly around carrying the "sperm" of one plant to another.

Hymen means membrane. -ptera is wing. They have membranous wings, and no carapace like beetles. Not named due to virginity.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

Hymenoptera* 🤭

If they can’t bother to label their doors correctly, then they clearly won’t mind which one I go into.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 9 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

Obviously birds are women, so so are Queen Bs. Just go on the floor outside.

[–] Opisek@piefed.blahaj.zone 39 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

The good ending: They both lead to the same room

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 28 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Hopefully the room has a toilet in it.

Normally bees are female, right? Worker drones are sterile female, and only when it's queen swarm time do males get hatched.

But honestly, as long as the stalls are enclosed, who the hell cares? We all have to do our business, and it doesn't matter who is in the room or other stalls.

Go in one and make your decision based on whether or not you see urinals.
