Introducing:

Fallout: Shelter TWO

[–] MotoAsh@piefed.social 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean, that would be pretty cool, if they made a proper sequel that could incorporate some of the vault flavoring from even the OG fallout game, maybe include some lore/tieins from the show that aren't ham fisted...

Though it's Bethesda. We'd be lucky if it wasn't the same game from 2015 with a few extra outfit options and quests.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Shit, if they made a Shelter 2, they should let you build some kind of above-ground base/settlement.

Like basically just give us the settlements from 4, but 2D and cartoony that lets us build some wild shit. We could still send people on quests, attract new followers and "heroes" and maybe a more fleshed out pets system.

Like more of a 2D colony sim than the first one was.

[–] MotoAsh@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hell yea. It shouldn't be that hard, even. I don't know how corporations miss these low hanging fruit. Maybe the monetization scheme of mobile doesn't tickle their pickle enough.

You could start with simple wooden structures that you upgrade and could change the layout/theme just like in the first, there could be added defensive placements and dedicated guard jobs too. I'm imagining with this scenario, attacks would come from both sides of the buildable area; you could make turrets at some point to replace the human guards, and there could be a verticality aspect to it, like building turrets and other things on higher levels and it gives an accuracy/damage bonus.

I'd also like the ability to send out more scouts and mission parties. With more locations to visit, and more enemy types like the Brotherhood or Enclave. I don't remember if you could in Shelter, but it'd be cool to see other vaults you could visit on missions, either functioning or ruined.

That was fun little game

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I spent way too much money on it when it first came out... I was young and dumb(er) then though.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Certainly a disappointing announcement, but I'd play it.

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

they already made that. available only in china though

Fallout 3 Remastered

Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition

Fallout 76... Special Edition?

Didn't we already get F4 Anniversary?

[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I would buy FO3 Remastered that shit was so cash

[–] DahGangalang 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If they did a good job with it, I think that could be a real winner.

....but Bethesda has a history of not doing a good job with remasters, doubly so for fallout products.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Other than Oblivion, what else have they even remastered/remade?

[–] DahGangalang 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So I want to count the FO4 Anniversary edition, plus the ~10 re-releases of Skyrim.

I feel like there's been more, but off the top of my head, that's all that's coming to mind.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I haven't seen FO4 anniversary edition yet (is it a free update or a paid one?), but if its like Skyrim's I wouldn't even consider it to be a remaster. All the Skyrim one really did was add more flora and particle effects and include some fan made mods as official content such as the fishing.

[–] DahGangalang 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Figures. But it also sounds like they didn't even add more little world details this time (the flora and particle effects of insects I mentioned before), making it even lazier!

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Oblivion remaster wasn't even Bethesda, but it still plays exactly the same.

That's what I'd want from a Fallout 3 remaster. Like, literally if it was just "Oblivion Remastered: Fallout Edition" because that's basically what Fallout 3 was to begin with.

I was so disappointed upon hearing that the graphics were gonna use UE5, but the logic was still GameBryo/Creation.

It's the fuckin' logic that absolutely sucks and needs more work. They didn't even bother to fix bugs! Every bug that still exists in the last version of the vanilla OG game exists in the remake, as if they literally did just copy and paste the scripts and logic code.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean that was partially the point. They left in a lot of the bugs and glitches because fans liked them, it added to the charm of Oblivion.

I mean just listen to the dialog and how NPCs act. It's literally just new graphics with good ol' Oblivion, and that's exactly what a lot of people wanted.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Giants smacking you all the way to Masser and Secunda is fun.

The game crashing or scripts not firing properly causing softlocks aren't. I feel like people played the original with the Unofficial Patch so long, they forgot about all the bugs that didn't ensue hilarity the game has without it.

They'd need to get a new game out with an actually new engine before I'd entertain that a remaster would be worth it.

Starfield might've been interesting, but the old engine sandbagged it from the start.

aka 1950s hunting simulator

[–] i_stole_ur_taco@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

“We’re integrating the Starfield plot into the Fallout universe to ensure no one is happy.”

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

i kinda liked the starfield plot tbh

For most studios I get a sense of excitement or maybe curiosity for new releases, with Bethesda I feel dread lol

[–] IronBird@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

lol, seriously. just fucking retire Todd goddamn.

I haven't watched season 2 of the show yet (waiting until it's almost completely released before I start) but even still, that's the second season of a high-budget "prestige" TV show.

That we only got after like what? 15-ish years of nothing but Fallout games?

We got a better Fallout show than Halo, and imo that's saying something.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

A new Skyrim release. This time adding guns and VATS. It also replaces dragons with giant cazadores.

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

scorchbeasts

they are literally dragons reskinned lol

[–] VerilyFemme@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago

Please don't, I'm not sure I can take it :(

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 4 points 1 week ago

Like what, using a new game engine?

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I enjoyed season one of the show but bethesda has been back to doing so much dumb shit I haven't watched the second at all and don't really feel any desire to. I see watching it as supporting a company that has bad leadership and shady practices, and that's just not cool.in my mind.
