/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

That guys a national treasure.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago

All those bad Ricks have to have counterweights lest the world spin off its axis.

Moranis and Astley are such ricks

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And he's back for space balls 2.

Technically, her last scenes were in Redemption, as Sela. And her last scenes as Tasha were in Yesterday's Enterprise.

But Rick Berman is, has been, and always will be scum. The way he treated the women on-set was worse than Roddenberry.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 87 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Tasha was in "All Good Things."

Right, I forgot! Most of my memory of AGT is just the three-nacelled Enterprise model, the weird commbadges, and the Pasteur,

One time I was seated near to Denise on a flight and she was drunk as a LORD, but now I understand it’s probably something Rick did. This was like 2016 and anyway this story has no point

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Naw, you're humanizing someone we've only seen on a TV screen. That's a good point to make.

[–] Danarchy@lemmy.nz 8 points 2 days ago

Fair fair

The other bit I remember is that she had just finished a con and TBF I’d get drunk as hell in first class if I were in her shoes

[–] Marinatorres@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

That’s actually such a sweet piece of Trek history — props like that are basically “physical memories.” Also, wild how much lore can live in something the size of a coin. 🖖

[–] Greddan@feddit.org 38 points 3 days ago (4 children)

He probably doesn't remember. Dude's 80 years old. I've never met anyone over the age of 70 who wasn't effectively mentally disabled.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 79 points 3 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (6 children)

Sure but Rick is very well known for how he interacted and treated female cast. Famously most will know of Farrell being fired from DS9.

Don't know about Berman's mental state, but I know of plenty of old people who didn't lose their marbles. My granny for one remembers anything since the dawn of time or at least from her 95 years of living.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

What you actually do in retirement matters a lot too. I noticed a huge difference between one who challenged herself mentally and one who watched TV while drinking beer all day.

Aging really is a game of swings and roundabouts

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

swingers and roustabouts

Maybe he shouldn't be making up shit then.

[–] Saapas@piefed.zip 19 points 3 days ago (2 children)

They're saying this Rick person probably thinks this is what happened

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 35 points 3 days ago (20 children)

The way Denise (who knows him better than we do) reacted imo suggests she too thinks he's making shit up (again). But sure, he'd just have to say "sorry, I seem to have misremembered this. In the future, I will try to check with others before I publicly post about distant memories."

No, this is a pretty tame level of lying for Rick Berman.

[–] PodPerson@lemmy.zip 20 points 3 days ago

How do you know though? Maybe he did it quite ceremoniously just to be an asshole and rub it in?

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago

At the time, very much akin to ceremony. Women are generally treated better these days (but still not like they should be treated), but in the 90s they were very much looked upon like meat with pretty packaging.
