I mean, if I'm not gonna have a good match anyway might as well embrace the fact it doesn't match lol

I spent an embarrassingly long time trying to figure out what kind of backpack you are wearing, thinking to myself, "why are the straps so uneven?"

[–] cabbage@piefed.social 17 points 2 days ago

Took me this comment to realize what was going on with the backpack. Neat.

"Maybe they're Jar-Jar Binks ears as part of a novelty hat? That seems like the sort of thing someone might have"

Ohhhh now I get it. I had the same problem.

A brick layer once told me: if you run out of bricks and for any reason you can't find the same bricks anymore don't try to hide it, make the change as showy as possible.

I don't know if that's a word, translations are hard.

I like what you did and you have a cool pet

[–] CryptoKitten@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nice! :) What kind of python is this?

[–] python@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

She's a Royal Python/Ball Python ^^

I had one for many years but it is the first time I see one with lines instead of spots, that is why I was asking, thanks, it is lovely.

Yeah, I actually have no idea why she even has a stripe! Technically there is a recessive Genetic Stripe Mutation, but it looks pretty different to her, and the fact that her siblings had at least some slight striping suggests that it isn't a recessive gene causing this.

The breeder's best guess is that she has the GHI, Black Pastel and Lesser genes, with a 66% chance for het Clown and maaaybe Confusion. So the stripe might just be a side effect of those genes interacting!

Nice. It reminds me of kintsugi. It makes the repair stand out, beautifully.

Do you have a pet eel that lives out of the water, or is my brain just not clicking?

[–] CentipedeFarrier@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I’m fascinated by a brain that goes to eel living out of water before snake. Do you live somewhere that snakes really aren’t a thing?

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He just looks real flat. I don't know if snakes come that way. I've always thought of them as being pretty round. I mean, I guess it's probably just his color/pattern, but I can't unsee a little moray eel.

I think it’s mostly an optical illusion? I could be wrong, but it looks like a plump and stubby lil thing to me.

True. Buttons don't need to match at all. Lean into this, get different style buttons for all of them and paint them all.

[–] python@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Ooh, I'll definitely do that down the line when more and more fall off! Taking them off on purpose kinda feels like it goes against the spirit of the repair haha

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

She's even looking at herself! Awww. I hope she likes it as much as you do.

[–] U7826391786239@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

you should do all the buttons

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 3 points 2 days ago
