I hate rewatching shows.

[–] curiousaur@reddthat.com 3 points 1 day ago

I restart the comfort seasons before even finishing the show.

[–] SleeplessCityLights@programming.dev 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

This is the perfect place for my dilemma. I don't want all my comfort shows to be old. I want to find some new shows, I open to anything that is funny or sci, with first seasons after 2015. Mine are getting pretty stale. The current list is:

  • IASIP
  • Parks and Rec
  • The Good Place
  • The Venture Bros
  • Brooklyn Nine-nine
  • 30 Rock
  • Stargate
  • Expanse
  • Firefly
  • ~~Rick and Morty~~ (Formerly)
[–] criticon@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I recommend Abbot elementary based on your list

I’m probably gonna get cooked for my comfort shows but:

  • family guy
  • american dad
  • community
  • seinfeld
  • 30 rock
[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I loved family guy! But then it got weird and lost the cosiness. Still like to watch the old seasons though

[–] iamericandre@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I went through a similar thing in my 20’s and then within a year or two it’s back in my heavy rotation. The early seasons hold up pretty well

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

Be not afraid. These are worthy.

[–] GarboDog@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That moment when your comfort show is one piece 💀 (Our comfort does is one piece and have watched it 7 times more we think)

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Samurai Jack

I just tune into the forever marathon on Adult Swim wherever it's at.

Stargate SG-1. I'm currently on the ~10th rewatch, up to mid season 2

Whenever I'm sick or injured I put on SG1 and by the time I'm done watching I feel better

[–] white_nrdy@programming.dev 3 points 2 days ago
[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

It's either Camiledae's Search and Destroy, or DMW3 inn theme, no in-between.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 27 points 2 days ago

I’m always watching Star Trek.

when I rewatch Star Trek from the start it usually takes over a year to get through

[–] zewm@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (6 children)

My comfort rewatches are

  • Supernatural
  • ER
  • Scrubs
  • Battlestar Galactica
  • Doctor Who
  • Star Trek (TNG, DS9, Voyager)
  • Avatar the last airbender
  • Roseanne
[–] sheogorath@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I’ve never been able to relate to posts like this because I can’t rewatch or reread things. The only thing that I can rewatch indefinitely is Pacific Rim but even that I don’t go out of my way to rewatch it.

Same things with video games, I can only replay games that allow you to take different path.

But this doesn’t apply to food or music. I can eat the same menu every day and you won’t hear anything from me. I can also keep listening to the same album over and over again (for a whole year or more even until I found a new album to restart the cycle).

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Babylon 5? It's very much in there as part of the comfort sci fi. Stargate SG-1 also. But yeah, TNG, DS9, Voyager are the holy trinity for me. The realest that Trek ever got. Lower Decks is made by people who understand that, but it's still not quite on the same level.

[–] zewm@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Never saw B5 or Farscape. I should backlog it.

The Good Place.

I’m normally more of a Star Trek and space opera fan, but there is something about this show that makes me happy.

[–] cenariodantesco@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Upvote for Parks and Rec. I think I've watched the series at least twice, and my favourite episodes many more times.

Oh man, I’m the complete opposite of this, I rarely repeat watch anything.

I will rewatch a season prior right before another season of a show comes out, which only happens if it takes a couple years to come out. That’s about it for repeats. I tried repeating The Office once but kinda lost interest two thirds through, didn’t finish. I just prefer fresh stories

[–] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

Road Quest

Six nerdy Canadian comics taking a wholesome road trip.

Apparently I've watched it 27 times (based on episode 12 watch count)
