Don’t be awful Lemmy Guidelines Still Apply.

We are agents of chaos I’ve created this to be the alternative to the community I used to manage on the website that shalt not be named “mapporncirclejerk”

Live and let die Meme trends happen, so please don’t message mods asking to take down maps that are repetitive to a bit.

Reposts Vs. Covers Not all reposts are evil- if someone posts something that has been done years ago, it serves to bring old memes to the new users. I call these meme covers. However it can be done in excess which makes it a repost and spam. Mods will determine if a post is a cover or a repost.

No impersonating mods I can’t believe I had to make this rule.

No harassing mods on an appeal We can talk it out, and we will be acting in good faith when making decisions. If you disagree with a removal, you are free to message for clarification or to appeal by giving some added context.

Bans Bans will be set to a maximum of 365 days for humans, and a minimum of 365 years for bots. I believe people can change, so if you are banned for good reason, do know that it is not permanent, it is just a way to say “take time to grow and come back when you are ready”.

The New Cascadia is formed: I love my states of Oregon, Boregon, Coregon, Doregon, Foregon and New Moregon.

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 weeks ago

We don't talk about Eoregon, and do try to not wake it up. It'll just rope you into looking for its lost tail.

Somewhere in Utah, a family is reading your comment and taking notes on future baby names.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wrong. That's California, northern California, Northerner California, mid California, Northest California then the others

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So the Spanish-derived names would be Norte California, Norte California MÁS (+25 kCal), Média California, Noreste California.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

This country didn't create 1500 states to bow to some gibberish language.

/s obv but who knows

Pouring one out for the homies stuck in Triple Ohio

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

As someone educated in Ohio public schools I can tell you that map only has one Ohio on it, and it looks completely accurate.

Sort of curious what state you're looking at and calling Ohio. And what public school system you were stuck in. :/

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I see Illinois, Sickinois, Dyinois, Deadinois, Outdiana and Indiana

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Yeah, and then Ohio. It comes after those ones. It's the one northlefter from the red circle by where it is.

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The only state I see that's actually gotten mangled is Missouri.

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, I was curious what the person I replied to meant by triple Ohio.

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I see states that might be Double Kentucky, Triple Kentucky and Quadruple Kentucky. But everything around Ohio is present and correct

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago

That's what made me laugh, he pointed out one of the few states that doesn't suddenly have twins. Making fun of Ohio while not knowing what it looks like and being wrong about there being 3 of them on this map was beautiful, whether intentional or not.

[–] toynbee@piefed.social 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So when do you go to space?

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'd go right now if I could. Just give me a few hours of air and I wouldn't even ask for a return flight.

[–] toynbee@piefed.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

Ohioan status confirmed.

I’m a bit worried about the Quadruple Indiana as well

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You should be. Idk if you've ever been to Indiana, but one is worrying enough. Fucking racist, laziest, willfully ignorant place I'd call the taint of the nation, but that's not fair to taints.

[–] calliope@retrolemmy.com 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Actually why I mentioned it! I’ve been there a decent amount.

I was going to say Ohio isn’t much better… but now that I think about it I’d prefer more Ohios than Indianas. I’ve known a number of genuinely good people from Ohio.

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Don't say that. Ohio is a black hole. You will meet people from Ohio trying to escape no matter where you go, but they'll almost all be pulled back. Few manage to truly break free. We need to get rid of the one Ohio we have, not make more of them.

There's like 6 Oregons and 9 North Carolinas

[–] BitUnWise@programming.dev 3 points 2 weeks ago

Surely only one of them can be 'North' Carolina

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

There’s like [...] 9 North Carolinas

Makes sense, as there are about that many different Southern BBQ styles, and now they each get their own Carolina.

[–] droans@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Triple Ohio? That's Eightdiana.

Unfortunately, it also comes with Fourtucky.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

On the other hand Nebraska is completely gone.

[–] zipsglacier@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Its right there next to Wyoklahota

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Why Oklahoma indeed. My home state.

[–] WalleyeWarrior@midwest.social 1 points 2 weeks ago

I wish there were 3 Ohios. That would mean trippe the number of Tony Packo's and Skyline Chilis

[–] blitzen@lemmy.ca 24 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Getting real loose with calling Virginia “literally” the first state.

[–] hakase@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 weeks ago

Doubly so since Virginia is a Commonwealth.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

the state of confusion

[–] vala@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 weeks ago

Anyone have the original map? This is surreal and hilarious.

[–] Zwiebel@feddit.org 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Florida, Texas, Cali and Arizona and all the other states are there

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago

I like how Utah is annihilated

[–] ZC3rr0r@piefed.ca 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

"What the fuck is this?" - The obese states of America, obviously.

[–] daw@feddit.org 3 points 2 weeks ago

No for real, what is this map I am looking at? No one bothered to explain so far🙃

[–] fireweed@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Don't take "first state" bragging rights away from Delaware, it's all they have!

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Depending on the map, I think Alaska would be the first state. Sometimes Alaska goes on holiday and visits Mexico, though. So, on this map, then it would be 87th.

[–] chunes@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Everyone knows you start in the upper left and go left to right, top to bottom. Duh.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Unless the Japanese started the first state. And we can never know if that happened.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 4 points 2 weeks ago

Test your American geography: find the State of Lounnectington.

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 3 points 2 weeks ago

The United Saucer of America

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I'm shocked NJ wasn't just thrown off the map.
