A place to discuss positive changes that can make work more equitable, and to vent about current practices. We are NOT against work; we just want the fruits of our labor to be recognized better.

- Better worker representation, including but not limited to unions.
- Better and fewer working hours.
- Stimulating a massive wave of worker organizing in the United States and beyond.
- Organizing and supporting political causes and campaigns that put workers first.

no matter how good the argument for socialism, you won't get public support until the media supports it. media is owned by billionaires who are very veryuch pro capitalism
It's an elder meme at this point. It's the second frame. The first one shows the unarmed astronaut looking at the earth and saying something like " it's all just ..."
So, how does this apply bakc in time a bit, like in the 1940s? There were massive movements, like in Germany, and obviously Russia before, to kick it off. How did they accrue members and grow?

The media owns a lot of news media. Curiously, some platforms still allow independent media to leak though.
Hence, we know what the 2014 Ferguson Unrest looked like, or the 2020 George Floyd protests, or the current crisis in Gaza.
They're trying to stop the signal, obfuscate it in disinformation and slop, but they haven't stopped the whole signal yet.

Capitalism is how we got socialism in where I live, capitalism is also how we’re losing it.
But that was five years ago! Look at how far we've come!

I.. Honestly have no issues with capitalism if we just elimate the top 1% and cap them at the top 2%'s wealth. Redistribute it to the bottom 98% with most of it going to the bottom 50% and honestly most of our issues are solved
The problem is, the wealthy and corporations will always conspire to get an upper hand, so the movement of wealth from the bottom to the top will always accelerate.
It really starts going when business interests capture regulatory bodies, or legislators, so that they can change laws to benefit the very wealthy and giant conglomerate corporations (and shield them from small businesses that have to innovate positively to compete.)
Then when everything's deregulated, they go full anti-competitive, create monopolies, enshittify and engage in financialization, using money shenanigans like stock buybacks and private equity which is super profitable but doesn't produce anything, often leaving sinkholes in the economy like the empty, abandoned Toys R Us stores.
And then, civilization collapses, and the owner class and political class are totally surprised because they believed their own master race rhetoric.

Isn't part of the problem with capitalism that there are fewer/no breadlines but poverty remains? The capitalist ethos pushes toward libertarian economic ideas, which remove social welfare programs and expect you to just disappear/die if you 'can't make it' in the capitalist regime.
The 3 billionaires are worth that much. They aren't hoarding cash. They own their respective companies.
Do y'all actually think they have trillion in cash sitting in a bank somewhere?
No but I think the wealth they have allows them to break the stock market, kidnap and molest kids and avoid legal responsibility
I don't disagree with that part. Wealth has power.
