The Panthers might not win another game until next season. The Bears will probably win a couple more games pushing them out of the top 5. Harrison will not fall out of the top 5. We guarantee ourselves a WR who has a good chance of being the next Jefferson/Chase. DJ Moore and MH would look mighty fine next season. We can spend our actual pick on OL or DL.

As someone in a previous thread said, if you think it’ll happen, MHJ is +2000 to go #1.

But reality is a thing and the Bears are taking either Caleb or Maye #1.

[–] GoldenDude@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, a WR hasn’t been taken number 1 since 1996

[–] Apotheosis69420@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well kinda. WR has gone first overall just 3 times in nfl history, and not since Keyshawn Johnson almost 30 years ago. Ultimately, unless the cardinals trade down or decide to make Kyler a $40m/year backup, it may be necessary.

[–] ArtMorgan69@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

MHJ or 2 future first round picks and 3 day 2 picks. Potentially a good, proven player as well. Pretty easy choice in my mind. People need to quit believing MHJ is the messiah who’s as valuable as a franchise QB.

[–] The_Wata_Boy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think Poles is hoping whoever finished 2 or 3 wants to move up to take a QB. That way he can trade down for additional picks. Otherwise, Poles may want to take a QB.

[–] BiglyBear@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Nope it's pretty smart to do it that way still some good qbs at 4 and 5 if we want to do that way. Oregon's QB would be fine

[–] forgotmyoldname90210@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

A third of Bo Nix passes are behind the LoS. Something like 2/3rds are under 10 yards.

[–] BiglyBear@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Exactly he fits in already

[–] Upset_Researcher_143@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think we should trade our top five picks for two sets of hauls. I feel like there are enough good players in this draft that we'll be able to have our cake and eat it too.

[–] StyrofoamCueball@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yes. If you don’t need a QB the value of the pick to a team that does is far more than any WR. If you have another top 5 pick already it would be even more insane to take him at 1.

[–] Flexxxxoffender@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

To be fair that team is 1-10 and probably won’t win another game all season. Drafting a rookie QB into trash situation doesn’t fix your franchise

[–] Extra_Bathroom_8306@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If the bears take a WR top 10 watch for another shit season.

[–] TLEH-IV@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

A receiver hasn't gone 1 in 30 years. Yes its crazy to take a WR at 1, even crazier this year. Organization malpractice.

[–] Ideal-Similar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No one picking 1 is drafting MHJ. If you don’t like Williams or Maye you trade back for a haul and take someone else. A QB is getting picked #1, else I will sniff glue.

[–] Chopped_rice@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don’t see a world we don’t either take a QB or trade back it’s just to valuable of a pick not to get some assets

[–] OmegaVizion@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think there's a realistic scenario where the Bears end up with two high picks, decide to keep Fields, trade the 1st pick for a big return, then still draft MHJ.

I don't think you can get Williams and MHJ though. MHJ + Maye MIGHT be possible but is incredibly unlikely.

[–] Zealousideal_Bass199@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Arizona is gonna be a top 3 pick and they will never pass on mhj

[–] Nitin-2020@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The Bears should trade the #1 pick to the Texans for C.J. Stroud and then trade Justin Fields and the #5 pick to the Patriots for the #3 pick to get MHJ.

[–] forgotmyoldname90210@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why is this getting downvoted? This is more realistic than half of the scenarios thrown around and its an obvious joke.

[–] tallslim1960@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My unpopular opinion amongst Redditors, but not actual football experts is that if the Bears get two top five picks, they need to move #1 to some team that desperately needs a QB (the Bears don't) get a lower pick and maybe a player or two that can help immediately. There are far too many holes on the team (especially the sieve like defense) that can't be fixed by adding Harrison or a new QB. You have the high picks, get the most bang for your buck in terms of quantity of upper echelon picks. There are many, many areas that need reinforcement. The defensive line (pass rush) the offensive line (Bears QB still running for their lives) and the defensive back field. Mahomes, Goff, Wilson, and others picked the secondary apart. Part of that is because of poor pass rush, but coverage was bad in those losses too.

[–] Fit_Beautiful2638@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes because MHJ is not worth more than the trade package we got from CAR (which included a #1 WR)

You could possibly get Crosby and 3 1st round picks out of the Raiders in a trade this year.

A franchise QB is worth more than the package we got from CAR (when you don't have a QB).

[–] Paran0idMan33@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is a new idea how did you come up with this

[–] Brodie1567@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

The infatuation this sub has with MHJ is insane. I understand that he might be a generational player at the position, but until we have the QB situation figured out…it doesn’t matter. We need an answer with Fields, and if he’s not it…we are absolutely taking Caleb/Maye with that first pick. MHJ will be gone top 3.

[–] generation_D@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I’ve seen some people suggest that this sub has just been overrun by OSU fans and that would explain so much

[–] forgotmyoldname90210@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Its just this sub. They did the same thing last year with the two defensive players.

[–] DaBigBlackDaddy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I doubt it, it's just idiots who legitimately believed that Fields was 100% going to be an MVP this year and can't admit they were wrong.

[–] forgotmyoldname90210@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Its so far overboard that they are going to be disappointed even if he plays at a Pro Bowl level.

[–] esotostj@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't think it's crazy but a huge gamble. MHJ and Bo Nix? or MHJ and top DE/DT would be nice too.

Or you can you also go Caleb Williams and Brock Bowers or Malik Nabers,

[–] gjg8888@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Crazy like a fox.

[–] Critical-Adhole@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes. We should pick Williams.

[–] drummerboysam@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

ITT - people acting like the NFL draft is an exact science

[–] Er0ck619@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The only way we do that is if we run it back with the trifecta of Poles, Flus, and Fields all staying.

A brand new coach is not going to want to come in and tie his career to a year 4 Fields and pass on an opportunity to start fresh with a first overall QB.

[–] SeniorDucklet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Draft MJH at 2 or3 after swapping picks and getting a 2025 first rounder for the #1 pick and also add Jayden Daniels in the mid to late first with draft Capital and he can sit for a year (and put on some weight) and take over for Fields in 2025. Take best Edge with the other first rounder.

[–] JohnLeonardHatePepsi@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Idc what anyone says. MHJ is the only sure thing in the draft. Get him and get an OL next.

One more year with Justin to decide for good.

[–] Second_City_Saint@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] Lanc717@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

First time visiting this Sub? That's all we've been talking about for last 2 months, lol

[–] Derpiliciousderp@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

MHJ is going 1

[–] Standard_Employee751@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think the only way that happens is if the cards are at 2 or maybe 3. Otherwise I think we could figure out a trade to ensure we got MHJ.

That said if we keep Poles he’s just gonna scapegoat Fields and taking Caleb Winless.

[–] Headwallrepeat@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ideally if we keep Fields the best case is to have AZ or NE move up to #1 and we get a little something and still take MHJ at 2 or 3. That being said, it takes 2 to tango and maybe they will stand pat. I have no problem with taking him at #1, because he is the best player in the draft.

[–] inorite234@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Who's to say the Bears don't end up with picks 1 & 3?

[–] PortillosBeef27@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well it’s definitely still possible and that’s the only way they can get maye and Harrison. Depends on the cardinals but they have a tough schedule left. Bears would definitely have to lose to them and hope they beat one more team while the bears lose out
