It all comes down to the opportunity I think. If Maye or Williams is available when the Panthers pick is on the clock I don't see you passing on taking them.
If the defense gets us to 6-7 wins and it's clear Fields ain't the guy and Getsy is in over his head I can see drafting a QB and changing coordinators.

A franchise QB is worth more than the package we got from CAR (when you don't have a QB).
They don't go into detail on what we could get for Fields - getting a second round pick would certainly help us not feel compelled to trade down from 5 and take BPA.

Everything you said is true but also the cost of trading for a guy like that is 3 1st round picks usually. You can't do that with out team, we have wholes and those picks would be too high.
If the Bears were just a QB away from contention I'd do it in a heart beat
