Yeah, they care about winning in the modern NFL. This is evident by their always competitive team and multiple Super Bowls. The Bears don't care about winning. Unless Warren changes the culture, that's what the Bears will always be under George's leadership. If Warren doesn't do it our only chance is that we get really lucky.

Hightower. His unit is performing. He has experience with the entire team.

I'm going to go against the grain and say we keep Getsy at OC for the remainder of the season. I think he is shit but I also think that Flus could be fucking up the game plan with his overly conservative mindset. Probably not, but with 6 games left, there would be time to evaluate that and nobody is going to come in and drastically alter the offense anyways

Is Edmunds playing?

This is the underlying stat that I think is in our favor for getting Flus fired. Not only has he not won, but they also haven't been very competitive. Somebody asked the sub yesterday what it would take for you to accept Flus getting another year. For me, it's going at least 3-1 in these final four division games.

If the team was practicing what was being preached it would go a long way. I expected takeaways, sound tackling, low penalties, and discipline on defense at a minimum. You don't need super-stars for those things other than maybe takeaways. They have not delivered there at all. That's where it starts.

I want see them beat a few teams big and keep their foot on the jugular the entire time.

I want to see a come from behind win on the last drive.

3 wins against opponents in the division.

From all reports, we offered him a better contract, and he left anyway. That's fine for him to choose, but I don't understand why he would be salty about the Bears. I liked him as a bear. If he wants to manufacture some fake drama then fuck him. That's just dumb. It's not like he was legendary for us. He was a well-rounded back that didn't excel in any category. Im sure he is still the same guy but in a better system and with a better line. Our run D is actually decent, so we'll see what he can do. If he shreds us, so be it. I'm all aboard the, let's get these coaches fired train, so anything that's embarrassing for them is a win.

Whose the coach?

The reality of the situation is that we need difference makers on offense. Jones is not a difference maker. If they go QB at #1, then the next step is to surround that QB with as many difference makers as possible. If Olu is the only difference maker on the board, then they should absolutely take him. It makes the entire line better because now you have a difference maker at LT and a damn good swing tackle in Jones.

There are a lot of stats that show the defense has been good enough. We've all seen this before, though. This is what this defense is. They do well against bad teams and can't hang against good ones. The stats get padded. Look at the two games against real QBs, KC, and LA. They got absolutely destroyed. This is the shit that used to happen to Lovie. This we he got fired even though he had a winning record that year. Anytime the Tampa 2 has been successful, it's been on the backs of hall of fame level players (or players that played at that level for a couple seasons. You got the Sapp and Urlacher as the main difference makers. Then, there are a ton of other guys like Lynch and Barber, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple of those Tampa guys. Briggs, Tillman, Mike Brown, Tommie Harris. I can't think of an instance where the Tampa 2 has done anything else of significance. In this NFL. It's never going to get us anywhere. Because in it's history it's only won 1 superbowl.

Compare it to 2018, where the Bears had 1 hall of fame-ish caliber of player with Mack and then just good - above average players at most of the positions. That's sustainable. That's a defense you can pair with a good offense and win a championship because it was adapted to players' strengths.

This is a great write-up, and the TLDR part is why I think Poles has to go. This whole team is a mismatch. It started with hiring Flus, a conservative, 4-3, defensive coach for a team that was not strong defensively and ran a 3-4. That move alone increased the amount of rebuild time. Then, Flus's antiquated defense requires a 3-tech to function, but instead, we bring in defensive ends and corners. Julius fucking Peppers didn't dominate in this defense. I think he had 1 season in the low double digits. Poles totally botched getting this team aligned, and he continues to do so. That is why I don't believe he deserves another chance. His approach is too moneyball-ish. He did a good job recouping draft capital and fixing the cap, but he never fully committed to helping Fields, thus setting the franchise backward even further.

Our UDFA QB just beat the #1 overall draft pick QB. That was the storyline I wanted to hear more about. Oh, and we get their 1st round pick. The fact that Young is looking bad sucks for the Panther fans. We know that feeling. Last night had to be an extra kick in the nuts. I don't wish that on the Panther fans. I hope next year, Young balls out.
