Liz gives me the vibe she thinks astrology is stupid but still knows everything about it

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I wanna start getting into astrology as a bit and annoy friends with comments like "that's such a libra move".

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

you don't even need to get it. just say it randomly

It's the only sports beer that doesn't explicitly lean into courting chuds which in and of itself is pretty commendable.

Also it tastes just fine

You ever notice how Kramer’s rants about wokeness suddenly happened after we found out Jerry was dating a high schooler? What’s up with that?

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

this is an usian cultural reference im too third world to understand

is this seinfield?

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Yes... you have these pop culture U.S references the whole nation, if not the world, understauns (Seinfeld) and then you have these niche ones more localized, like this, that require you to be terminally online and western to ken... (Trueanon)

Edited:

[–] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

i think 70% of Americans probably know what Seinfeld is

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

But do they know Trueanon?

sorry, I should change my terms... and clarify Seinfeld is famous in the U.S

It's not famous everywhere tho, eh?

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago

You've got to love a show that does a genocide-themed April Fool in the middle of an actual genocide! All I saw for TA was them laughing at people who were horrified by the thumbnail. Like it doesn't have its own demoralizing effect. And then the actual show was Brace defending hanging up an SS flag. Very cool!

At least Carl Beijer's April Fool made me click through to the actual joke (fake thumbnail, he's written for Jacobin so the infamous COMPACT mag would not be a surprise to me, but I guess he despises them, good joke).

[–] disposable_cracker@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize the chipmunk soundeffect song that was playing instead of an actual interview was because it was an april fools joke.

The best jokes leave their audience feeling confused, a little angry, and unsure of what happened. Humor not required!

[–] IHATESMOKINGCHRONIC@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I didn't even open it lmao because I saw the comments I think it's gross. I'm not trying to get all depressed!

I heard there was a sincere defense of the whole hanging up SS flag picture against haters etc at the end but maybe that was a rly fucked up april fools. Mea culpa I tend to put focus into things like how hundreds of thousands of people's lives being destroyed might finally stop rather than deciphering how jokes from people who are never funny work

[–] assyrian@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

TR-6? I I prefer to think of her as... Elaine.

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Got drip like Vyvyan from Young Ones lmao

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Actually I can imagine them as that in the meme....
