"female" always sounds slimy to me. There's just something about the word

[–] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 49 points 10 months ago (1 children)
[–] Egon@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago

I think that might be the reason tbh

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 35 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (4 children)

Female, pronounced "feeeeeeeeeeeemale" is a dead giveaway you're dealing with a reactionary G*mer chud nerd

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 26 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Which sucks because now I don't wanna use it when grammar demands. Oddly enough they seem to not want to use it when grammar demands either.

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 25 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The trick is to use it as an adjective every time instead of as a noun. Nounification makes shit weird.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago

Don't you mean a Ferengi Reactionary chud?

[–] CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net 3 points 10 months ago

i pronounce it like Tamales

[–] HiImThomasPynchon@hexbear.net 17 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (3 children)

Yeah, like why you callin' them "females" bud? Wanna be reminded of "males" when you talk about 'em?

The accepted ways for heterosexual men to refer to the opposite sex are: Chicks, babes, birds, broads, dames, girls/gals, lassies/lasses, señora, maidens, and Sheilas*

Edit:

*Only if you're Australian, otherwise it's appropriation

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 11 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I suppose women is out of the picture too?

[–] HiImThomasPynchon@hexbear.net 14 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Same problem as "females." You drop two letters and all you got is "men."

Sounds pretty gay to me ngl

[–] magi@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

"It's only gay if the balls touch sweaty"

Women is something they'd never say it's always females..

[–] StalinStan@hexbear.net 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I like that we went for thr same bit instinctively

[–] HiImThomasPynchon@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago

Ah dang it, I forgot 'birds'

[–] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago

Often, they're not attracted to women, they're attracted to girls

[–] DaPorkchop_@lemmy.ml 8 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Legitimately, how else would you say this? "Woman characters" clearly sounds wrong, "characters who are women" sounds unnecessarily long and clunky.

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 16 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'd just say "women". characters is redundant when you specify it's in a game.

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

But that doesn’t make it wrong or misogynistic lol

Broads, dames, birds, etc. Just anything a film noir detective would say

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It’s used as an adjective here, not a noun. This is how people describe things even before the trend of documentarizing women in the past few years

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 2 points 10 months ago

And? It still sounds slimy to me

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

As a woman, my identity is tied up in how i am different from men, this is normal

lol

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago

I don't understand what you're trying to tell me, I'm sorry

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 39 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

G*mers continue to be absolutely incoherent about everything. The only time their neurons fire in unison to form a thought is when they see a woman who's realistically portrayed and the thought is something Hitler would say.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 32 points 10 months ago (1 children)
[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 19 points 10 months ago

I think even Hitler would be like hey buddy cool it with the racism when it comes to G*mers and general american reactionaries.

[–] StalinStan@hexbear.net 35 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It is wild how much ostensibly straight cis men hate women. Like, "unless a woman is so unnaturally hot she overwhelms my limbic system I don't want to look at her" it's fine bro, you just don't like women that much and feel weird about it. Since horny specifically counteracts disgust in most brains the implication is that the men in question are at least mildly disgusted by women.

If these are the girls they're not attracted to I just don't understand what they want

edit: I just noticed the DEI mention. Huhh???

[–] magi@hexbear.net 16 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)

Sounds like a right wing dogwhistle to me when framed like that but then it's critical drinker so not surprised. He mingles with "centrists" don't you know smuglord

[–] StalinStan@hexbear.net 15 points 10 months ago

Two white people. Obvious DEI

[–] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Mans, but they are too afraid to admit.

[–] Outdoor_Catgirl@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago

Stop blaming what straights do on queer people

[–] Darth_Reagan@hexbear.net 24 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

They're going for totally different things. Resident Evil is horror camp with hotties. Leon is firing off cheesy one liners from the get go in 4. Different types of media are allowed to exist.

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

RE4 is also over a decade old.

[–] Darth_Reagan@hexbear.net 6 points 10 months ago

The remake isn't though

[–] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 19 points 10 months ago

Someone should reply with the same meme format but put pictures of anti-woke streamers/influencers up top and then Hasan and some other attractive lefty streamer on the bottom

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The top ones look like humans

The bottom two look like dolls for little girls

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I mean the left character, Ashley, is literally just a real person mocapped lol

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

All the RE games since RE7 as well as Devil May Cry 5 have used real mocapped actors/models for all of their their characters, though the performance might be split between face model and motion capture actor

[–] magi@hexbear.net 10 points 10 months ago

Oh yes the ever moving goalposts from the freeze-gamer

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

One of the few things to like about TLOU2 is the still somewhat rare depiction of a woman who is jacked af. The game is still dogshit but :>

[–] radiofreeval@hexbear.net 7 points 10 months ago

Hey the rope physics are exceptional
