How do you survive day-to-day life?! I cannot imagine how weak your immune system is from lack of challenge. Yes, I'm fully vaccinated, not one of those idiots, but neither am I worried about bacteria like you seem to be.
Apologies, not trying to jump your ass, just can't fathom such an attitude. I'd lick such a pen on a dare, think nothing of it, and nothing would happen. LOL, and I came of age in the AIDS epidemic!
Pretty sure a little girl died of Meningococcal around the area where I grew up and lead to a large push on public awareness of not sharing drinking utensils in particular.
Another prevalent disease spread around when I was younger was cold sores and another that effected my family was golden staph which a sibling of mine had an infection and we were forbidden from sharing any eating or drinking utensils with.
I guess my point is that I’m glad you’ve never worried about it. For everyone else, be hygienic and don’t suck on public pens.
I could be wrong, but if the cup is brass/bronze/pewter it would have inherent antimicrobial abilities. I still think sharing a public cup is kind of gross, though.
It would be gross, but the constant UV exposure would definitely help, at least during summer.

Wikicommons is a fantastic source, probably the most common one I dig things up in. Sometimes from an article on Wikipedia, sometimes just by searching something random on Wikicommons itself, like '1896 in warfare', and just browse from pic to pic, or category to category, until something interesting catches my eye.
rarehistoricalphotos.com is a good source of pre-curated interesting photos, but I try not to overuse it.
If a photo is mentioned in something I read, like an article or a book, sometimes I try to ford through the rapidly-enshittifying search engines of the modern day in the hopes of finding it. I come across some real niche Web 1.0 websites like that, still out there categorizing all the left-handed jugglers of Central Albania in the late 19th century, sort of energy.
A rare few I find on national government archives - those are a pain to look through, but you can find some real unknown gems. I found some fantastic photos of early 20th century Ethiopia on the Polish government's historical archives a while back - just the kind of connections you wouldn't expect to see.
