Ironically Dirty Harry is perfectly placed. Would probably kill Light with 0 evidence and "solve" the case without any proof.
no he wouldn't, he'd be a huge kira supporter. plus light isn't a hippie, light would live 100% of the time if dirty harry lead the investigation

I was going to argue that Francis York Morgan could solve that case easily, but he does like to tell absolutely everyone his full name, maybe that would be a critical weakness
Honestly I bet this is why Twitter OP put him there.
I apologize if this is a stupid question, or if there's something in DP2 or extended materials I don't know, but would this actually work? Would the Death Note consider it York's body?
Cause if not, Kira is going to be very confused when all that happens is sudden white hair, heterochromia, and aggressive C-PTSD.

Unless I'm blind, I'm disappointed in Detective Cuno's exclusion.

I feel like Edgeworth would immediately be able to catch on to the 'the killer is active during a Japanifornia school student's schedule' => 'the killer suddenly switched up their behavior so they have access to the police force somehow' tells but he would need help from Phoenix and Maya in order to catch Kira before he gets got because he would be distracted looking for a rational and non-magical cause of death from there.
So yeah I agree with his positioning in the chart.

Edgeworth is properly placed, but I would argue Phoenix should be in the top left corner.
He has regular encounters with the supernatural, and his specialty is bullshitting his way to what must be true regardless of how outlandish it sounds.
Though, I guess it depends on what qualifies as "intuiting the mechanics of the death note." Phoenix will definitely stumble his way into something close to the truth even if by accident, but whether he actually believes what he's saying is true because he arrived at the conclusion logically or if he believes it's true because he believes so deeply in the innocence of his client that the supernatural explanation must be true is up in the air.
If "using the wrong equation to get the right answer" doesn't count as intuiting the mechanics of the death note, then I could see the argument for putting Phoenix in the bottom left. But he would absolutely stumble into accidentally describing how the Death Note works, and confidently use it in his defense because you can't prove that it's not true, even if he doesn't fully understand why what he's saying is true.
I used to think Light was a genius as a child, but now I come to realize that Light would fall for QAnon, someone’s personal grievances, and other fake news and just end up killing a random guy because he sells hotdogs at a store that’s connected to the Reunification Church via numerology

Cooper'd come within an inch of bagging Kira but his tendency to go the extra mile even when it's not needed or wanted would fuck him over horribly at the last second as he gets trapped in some godforsaken nightmare realm or whatever a third time.
cooper would use divination to figure out the neighborhood kira lived in and how the shinigami were involved but would get distracted investigating the yakuza long enough for light to get him

Monk is like One Punch Man. The only case he can't solve is his wife's murder. It's the whole character.

Detective Pikachu has the experience with the supernatural to determine the nature of the Death Note and while channeling the detective expertise of Harry Goodman would eventually root out the identity of Kira.

The Scooby Gang would never figure out how the Death Note works because they always end up concluding the monster is just a guy in a mask.

Benoit Blanc trivially dismantled the Rub-Goldberg-esque machinations of Miles Bron's Glass Onion, but was unable to save several people from dying (or nearly dying) before the climax of each movie. Also, he's way too trusting of the police. So he wouldn't deduce the identity of Kira.

Sam & Max typically bungle their way through a case by way of hijinx, without ever solving anything, and just sort of land on a conclusion by accident, only to resolve the causal sequence in retrospect. They would not solve the case, although they would annoy the piss out of Kira and probably cause him to fumble the Death Note in a way that ended with him killing himself in the process.

Dexter would definitely figure out who Kira is, but wouldn't bother fucking around with how the Death Note works, because he only likes killing people his way.

I feel what you described about Sam and Max is close enough to being able to solve the case but they probably couldnt intuit the mechanics of the Death Note.
Max would probably eat the notebook and they'd call it case closed.

"Kira," this name keeps coming up over and over again. Every day Kiras victims are popping up. Kira! Kira! I go to the police, and the whole place is run by Kira! So I say to myself, "I gotta stop this guy! I gotta go up to his house and take the notebook out of the guy's goddamn hands! Otherwise, he's never going to stop and he's going to keep killing people." So I look into Kiras identity and what do I find out, Mac? What do I find out?! There is no Kira. The man does not exist, okay? So I decide, "Oh shit, buddy, I gotta dig a little deeper." There's no Kira? You gotta be kidding me! I got entire task forces chasing Kira! All right. So I start marchin' my way down to Light in HR and I knock on his door and I say, "Light! Light! I gotta talk to you about Kira." And when I open the door what do I find? There's not a single goddamn desk in that office! There...is...no...Light in HR. Mac, half the employees in this building have been made up. This place is a goddamn ghost town.
OK, Charlie I'm going to have to stop you right there. Not only do all of these people exist, but they've been asking for their mail on a daily basis. It's all they're talking about up there. Jesus Christ, dude, we are going to lose our jobs.
All right, well, fine. You know what, Ryuk? Give this guy a cigarette, he's freakin' out. [Turns to a ghoulish creature with staring at him]
Huh? Who?
Ryuk. He's the one who tipped me off to Kira.

Genuinely surprised he's not on there, especially since Monk is.
I think Shawn and Gus can almost figure out the death note, and Lassie can almost solve the Kira case, but they have to work together to put the pieces together
L only caught Kira by doing wild amounts of crimes he had to reason to suspect would work.
Anyone here could catch Kira because his liberalism levels are so off the charts it'd be obvious through Twitter likes. We are so internet poisoned our brains would be able to put it all together. Just we'd notice one of the mods of r/neoliberal went quiet before they started or something
Mulder assumes that 
s are randomly targeting people to test out a weapon they devised to manipulate the unseen forces of luck that somehow coexist with all the other zany forces of the universe he also believes control literally everything all the time at once. Scully points out how dumb this is. When their main contact on the case is killed, Mulder randomly and correctly assumes both that the Death Note exists and that Light is the killer, showing up at the very last second to save the final victim and deliver one line of dialog that amounts to "yeah I just figured it out lol".
Episode ends with someone picking the Death Note up off the floor at a casino, before they blow all their cash on one last bet. Before the credits, there's a closeup of this new person's face, who while looking at the dealer says: "Didn't catch your name..."
phoenix would absolutely be able to figure out the mechanics of the death note
deckard from blade runner wouldn't figure anything out imo
the major would be able to hunt light down and kill him without ever thinking about the mechanics and would probably be immune to the death note. well placed
kim gets nowhere in the case, but harry only solves it with kims help. idk how to show that so i think their current placements work
diamond is unbreakable cast see kira on the news, figure out how his "stand" works and take him down in only 1 episode
dale cooper has a dream where he figures out the shinigami involvement but never suspects light until its too late
battler has never been more perfectly placed. he'd manage to blue truth the mechanics but would never actually pinpoint anyone, he's to scared to accept the truth of a person doing the serial killing

While I obviously enjoy seeing Francis York Morgan on there, I'm seriously impressed that the maker of the image also included the lesser known Swery detective protagonist, David Young from D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die (RIP)
I also kept searching for David Suchet's Poirot 
Jessica Fletcher from "Murder, She Wrote" should be on that list. She'd solve the case by playing ignorant and being really neighborly and sweet to that creepy guy next door 
and just keep him talking until she solves the case.
