For some background, I came out as trans to my sister in June and last month I managed to talk about it to my parents. Two weeks ago I bought these clothes and today I wore them outside for the first. It was in a therapy group where I already came out so it wasn’t too scary, but I was still kinda stressed when I got there. Anyways I’m really happy about it

Also, unrelated but I tried to cross-post this from !trans_joy@lemmy.blahaj.zone but apparently you can only do that with link posts on piefed. Does anyone know if there's an easier to do this other than copy and pasting the posts content ?

You look great, and I'm super jealous of your hair! It sounds like you've got decent support behind you, which is so awesome.

Thanks, to be fair I made sure it looked good in the picture but most of the time it's messier than that. Yeah, I'm pretty lucky that the people I talked to about it accepted pretty easily

You look great!

Regarding your tech question, afaik lemmy and piefed are separate protocols, so if you have a multi-protocol app, crossposting might work better. (EDIT: Or, I'm told, they're both ActivityPub-based and meant to work together, but at this point in time there are differences in the details that complicate things a little.) Otherwise an instance would need to be compatible but run a bridge that handles that. I wish these things were better connected, thinking specifically of the divide between ActivityPub and Diaspora, as well as Bluesky's formerly defederated state.

Thanks

Okay, that's kind of annoying, unfortunately the app I used before (eternity) doesn't support piefed yet and is rarely updated. I'm sticking with the web app for now

[–] pentastarm@piefed.ca 6 points 2 weeks ago

Voyager supports both as well, although some of piefed's more unique features aren't there yet.

Also, your outfit is awesome!

fwiw F-Droid has an app called Blorp which apparently supports Lemmy and PieFed

[–] moseschrute@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Blorp dev here. I approve of this message, and OP’s outfit is fire

Piefed and lemmy are both group actor based activitypub platforms, and Piefed is explicitly designed to be compatible with lemmy, simply because lemmy has the traction/momentum in the activitypub niche they both exist in.

The difference isn't protocol based, it's just a piefed design decision and one that could easily be changed if a dev gets the chance to put some time in to it.

[–] lazyneet@programming.dev 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ah ok, then it could easily all work seamlessly one day.

[–] moseschrute@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I think they already work pretty seamlessly? They could drift apart over time, but I believe there is some amount of coordination between Lemmy and PieFed devs.

You look a lot more put together than my first time, trust me. Even got your nails all pretty, yeah? I still haven't gotten that down.

Thanks, I can't take credit for the nails tho, my stepmom did them for me
