Remember that scene in Inglorious Basterds where they lock the cinema full of Nazi officers and set it on fire?

Cool scene, just thought I'd bring it up.

Executing Trump.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Probably be a great place to broadcast the hangings from.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wouldn't it make a good court room for a Nuremberg-style trial to hold the current Junta responsible for their crimes and treason? And remember: "I was just following orders" is not a valid excuse!

[–] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

A tourist attraction, an unhallowed mausoleum to store Trump's rotting corpse where people can walk by & spit on it or throw tomatoes at it or pour gasoline & matches on it or whatever.

[–] CommissarVulpin@lemmy.world 96 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Maybe a big courtroom like what Nuremberg was used for after WW2.

A man can dream.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

After that torn down and used as a rose garden.

Bold of you to assume they ever plan on leaving. He’s already handing out Trump 2028 hats and Bannon is just doing media interviews telling everyone he isn’t leaving.

You don’t tear down an entire wing from one of the most (symbolically) important buildings in the country just to throw parties for a couple years and then leave.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

It’s just as likely he’ll get bored or run out of money and never finish

[–] snausagesinablanket@lemmy.world 67 points 2 days ago (10 children)

BTW, I just got a 7 day sitewide ban on Reddit for asking this same question!!

What the hell is going on there?

[–] db2@lemmy.world 36 points 2 days ago

Reddit is owned and operated by boot licking wannabe fascists. That's what's going on.

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 29 points 2 days ago

No one should trust anything American anymore.

[–] Zwuzelmaus@feddit.org 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yea. You should be proud of that.

(But try harder next time and get a ban for life)

Badge of honor.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Dude, get off Reddit. The thing that's going on there now has been going on there for years. It's a true cesspool over there and using the platform enables them and gives money to spez.

People on the Conservatives and AskTrumpSupporters subreddits love to whine about how left leaning the rest of the site is.

I think that was true enough in the past, but the last several years have changed things.

I haven’t been there in the comments for about a year now but from the regular posts on here about being banned over there make me think it’s only gotten worse.

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Only 7 days? Hell, I got permabanned from Reddit years ago for mentioning Elon Musk's Boring Company and their 'Not A Flamethrower' contraption, which is totally a flamethrower of sorts, and looks like a fucking toy!

And this was way before Elmo even mentioned the idea of buying Twitter and before Reddit went public...

Fuck Reddit and fuck Spez, they'll just as soon ban you for mentioning facts.

We could probably take the ballroom apart very carefully and use the materials to rebuild the east wing but, once started, we'd discover that trumpy cut corners like hell to line his pockets even more and the ballroom is just a pig shell of nothingness, but with golden lipstick.

[–] Bazoogle@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Nobody is going to rebuild the east wing. Americans don't want it torn down, but I'm sure most of us also don't want our money spent rebuilding it

[–] HarneyToker@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Need somewhere to put the National Museum about his atrocities once he is gone and all his “friends” write books outlining the horrible things he did to continue their grift.

Seems like it'll have plenty of space for a guillotine.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

A guillotine is all that's needed in there

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 22 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I'm fairly convinced he's building it because he has no intention of his regime being over. It will be passed down to his son as the next Reichful ruler. :/

I agree he has no intentions of leaving office, but neither of his sons have the charisma to carry on the cult of personality. Whenever and however he dies, there is going to be a massive power struggle that ensures, and I don’t know if there’s anyone that can pull off being the sole inheritor of the MAGA movement

A free retirement villa for all the citizens he took healthcare & SNAP away from.

[–] BillDaCatt@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

Homeless shelter and soup kitchen! The President is there every other Thursday serving food and drinks to the guests. As is tradition.

[–] leftzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

Turn it into a pigsty.

Use the pigs to feed the hungry.

Also, breed the pigs to look like Trump.

(I mean, if the Danes could get a pig breed to look like their flag, I'm sure Americans can get a pig breed to look like Trump. I mean, they're already almost there!)

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Demolished and have offices built.

[–] relativestranger@feddit.nl 5 points 1 day ago

demolished is the only answer.

it won't be built to code. shortcuts will be taken as everybody looks to score some free cash along the way.

no one will know what 'extra' items were planted during its reconstruction. even more significant if the security bunkers underneath the demolished east wing are also rebuilt.

[–] swordgeek@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm not convinced it's going to survive the civil war that is required to get Trump and his cronies out of power.

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Especially because there's a bunker underneath.

I'm willing to bet this is all about modernising the bunker, not the east wing.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

"Modernizing" being euphemism for planting lots of listening devices for his ~~friends in Russia~~ paying customers.

The Epstein Ballroom?

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Shelter until homeless are housed.

[–] natecox@programming.dev 15 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Fun fact: there are more vacant houses in the US than there are homeless people. We literally have an empty, unused house for every single homeless person right now.

[–] Bloefz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I didn't know that, but I do know that homelessness isn't just a housing problem. A huge number of cases are more mental health related: E.g. even if the person had money they wouldn't be able to live in a stable home. Because the root cause of their lack of money and homelessness is mental health. I would also consider drug addiction to be a mental health issue here by the way which would be a significant percentage of the homeless too.

And that is of course heavily associated with the lack of affordable mental healthcare in the US :( And drug addiction care.

Of course if you would give out housing you would save a lot of homeless, just saying it wouldn't work for all.

[–] natecox@programming.dev 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

There have been repeated studies and examples where homeless people have simply been giving a house and basic living wage, with no qualifiers on who can receive it based on mental health or drug use. Every time this is done people thrive and pull their lives back together.

It absolutely is, at its core, a housing problem. Provide basic humanitarian safety and stability and people can pull themselves out of the darkness just fine.

Edit: the “evidence and outcomes” section of the housing first Wikipedia page speaks for itself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Housing_First

A ballroom… a large meeting space? I don’t think we need a ballroom. I don’t think the presidents normally have big galas and I’d rather not make that a thing either.

I guess we just use it as a ballroom or meeting space. Since it going to happen wether I like it or not I guess we just use it for its intended purpose occasionally.

We should immediately redecorate it tho because I’m sure trump will make it look very “new money “ like he does with everything else he decorates. “More gold means more rich right? Put it everywhere!”

So embarrassing.
