I’ve been thinking about this a lot and finally decided to look up the actual numbers. Since we drafted Justin Fields in 2021 our starting QB W-L records are:

Trevor Siemian 0-1

Nathan Peterman 0-1

Nick Foles 1-0

Tyson Bagent 2-2

Andy Dalton 3-3

Justin Fields 6-26

It’s kind of ridiculous that over the past 3 years we are 6-26 when Fields starts while being 6-7 when he doesn’t start. I know wins and losses aren’t completely on the QB, but this is a huge disparity

I’m a big fan of Fields. I think he’s a good leader and dynamic runner. He’s got a strong arm. But he still lacks as a passer. I feel like too often he doesn’t get the ball to open receivers and that he too often looks to run while eschewing the pass

And just for comparison, Trubisky was 29-21 through 4 years as a starter

I know we have other issues, but I think I am ready to move on from Fields. Probably want to move on from Eberflus too. I’m not sure about Poles, but I’m leaning towards keeping him. I feel like we have some good, young talent. Just not at QB

I don’t get my poles gets so much hate. Yes, he chose Flus. However, I think people forget that was from a list of three guys provided to him by polien. All I know is he knows talent. Braxton jones, Darnell Wriggt, brisker, Gordon, Dexter, Bagent and more. He’s also got sweat, Moore, Edward’s, and Edmund’s. Also got Carolina’s first round. Dude can get and has gotten a solid team. Now we we need a coach to mold it.

I’m assuming the patriots but let me know what works better for us to get the first overall pick

He was only an OC, and with Trestman & Eberflus alone, we've had historically bad HCs, but I still say the last hire of Lovie Smith's tenure with the Bears is still the worst.

That year, we brought in Brandon Marshall, Martellus Bennett, Alshon Jeffrey, finally had a decent offensive line, and we had Matt Forte along with Jay Cutler.

On the defensive side of the ball, we had a defense that outscored multiple offenses by the halfway point of the season, and was on par to break the franchise record of fewest points allowed.

So what the fuck went wrong, especially since the team was still 10-6? Literally every fucking week, the offense looked like it was getting ready for its first preseason game. I don't have as fond of memories of Jay Cutler as everyone else, but "fuck it, chuck it" was the only thing he could do all year, because the offense was always slow & vanilla as fuck.

Also, I know it ain't technically Mike Tice's fault Major Wright ended Brian Urlacher's career on a hail mary by the Seahawks, but the fucking Seahawks never should have been in the game enough to where that hail mary was necessary, so, I still blame Mike Tice.

I challenge anyone skeptical of this post to go re-watch any part of the 2012 offense and point to me where Tice actually had something cooking. Even god damn Getsy, Trestman, and Nagy have had little moments of genius, but everything Mike Tice did to that offense was an abomination.

Final thing, and what I'm getting at: while guys like Eberflus and Trestman were horrible hires on so many levels, the absolute worst either of them has done is win a few less games than they should have.

The god damn 2012 Bears had absolutely EVERYTHING for a legit SB run, but they had an OC that kept them from even sniffing the fucking playoffs despite being 10-6. If Lovie hires even an average OC, the Bears are absolutely SB favorites.

A guy in the front row has a sign that says "FIRE MATT EVER-LOSE"

Can't get a picture, but it happened right at the start of the main event.

So apparently there were 22 NFL teams scouting the OSU Michigan game. I don't know if this means anything, but the Bears were not there scouting that game

I'm not super new to football, but I didn't grow up with it. So I'm not super familiar with schemes and playcalling. I have some questions about the defensive scheme run by Eberflus and co. As I understand it this is a 4-3 defensive scheme, where the most important positions are the three technique and the strongside, weakside, and middle linebackers. So that is what Poles tried to acquire in the off season, with Edmunds, Edwards, and Dexter Sr. for example.

However, I've sometimes seen this scheme be called outdated or old fashioned. What makes it outdated? I know we used to run this scheme before with some succes, for example in 06, but just because it's been here a while doesn't mean it's outdated. Is a 4-3 not usable anymore in the modern NFL?

And what will happen when Eberflus is sacked, which looks more and more likely by the week. Is it easy to transition to a different scheme or will the defensive roster be stripped down due to scheme fit and will for example Edmunds be shown the door just like with Roquan Smith, because he's a middle linebacker instead of an off ball inside linebacker?

2 sacks today thus far against Northwestern. 7.5 on the year from the interior as a D tackle. Wouldn't be mad at all if he ended up our 3 tech.

I would liked to have seen 5A & 6A, Nazareth & Cary-Grove are good stories. Watching Mt. Carmel & Downers Grove North now. DGN is sort of hanging around, but Mt. Carmel doesn’t look as sharp as they did last week vs. Batavia either, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a HS team play that well. The Loyola vs. Lincoln-Way East game should be good.

Figured I'd ask here. I have a Walter Payton helmet that I bought in the early 90's from one of the home shopping networks. I have a general certificate of authenticity, but it's not numbered or holographed. I have no doubt it's genuine as Walter was on the show signing a bunch of them when I bought it.

Should I send it in and have it authenticated by Becketts, PSA, or JSA? Is it worthless without? My other concern is that I don't want it to sell it to a resaler, I want it to go to a fan that will appreciate it. However, I don't live in Chicago (I'm in Omaha, NE) It's been in the curio cabinet in my man cave for 30 years. We are looking to downsize and I have to part with some of my collection.

Any suggestions appreciated (event the ones that suggest I wait until they have a winning season, lol)

That's what you sound like saying we should pass on caleb williams. Unless the argument is that of course a wide receiver couldn't single handedly win a game for the team, the position just doesn't have enough impact when the quarterback can't get them the ball. (Which is why he shouldn't draft one with our first pick).

Look I know Williams and Maye are real good and hard to pass on but San Francisco does alright with Brock Purdy playing point guard with the avengers around him and you have 2 top 5 picks and Marvin Harrison Jr is one of them… obviously you have the Harbaugh/Ditka parallels as former players, and JJ McCarthy has pouty Jim McMahon lips. And they already love each other! So that’s gotta be worth something. Idk I’m just saying sometimes history rhymes

146

Harrison is a stud and will make any QB I think significantly better… let’s keep Justin, get Marvin Harrison Jr. and then draft the best DT in the draft in the first round. What do you think?

  1. Bears get #1 overall pick, trade back to the 7-10 range for a haul of picks, maybe two future firsts, a second this year and a future second, and a future third.

  2. With pick 3-5, wherever we land, bears go BPA, whether that’s MHJ, Olu Fashanu, Laiatu Latu, or Joe Alt

  3. Bears use the #7-10 pick on Jayden Daniels

  4. Bears trade fields for a 2nd rounder

We get a haul of picks and a high quality qb prospect. I’m not convinced Williams or Maye are so much better than Daniels they’re not worth getting a massive haul of picks for

148

one team has the player the Bears should draft; other team has the HC we should hire

enjoy the game

149

Just a reminder to the people saying to get MHJ and figure out the qb situation later just how little an all time great, if not the greatest wide receiver ever, has on winning if you don't have a decent quarterback. As great as MHJ might be the return he offers isn't even a fraction to as much as if Maye or Caleb end up being great or even just good. The potential return on investment is just too much to pass up with a qb draft this highly touted.

If the Bears have a top 2 pick they aren't even going to consider MHJ, the only chance is if the Panthers drop to 3 or later where you consider him and then a qb later with our pick.

Look, I am just some goober who had to punch a new hole in his belt with a nail after eating too much pumpkin pie and mashed potaters. But even my bloated ass knows that Brian Flores is gonna spend almost any chance he has blitzing on Monday night. Have Kmet ready to chip and have Justin practice the hot routes. If he holds the football for more than 2.5 seconds I will kick you in your Eberballs -- especially if he gets hurt again.
