I know it's a meme but please remember that 5 g in one day are enough to kill you.

ETA: Painfully.

[–] frosty99c@midwest.social 76 points 1 week ago (4 children)

And alcohol interacts with it and increases the risk. So, 2.5g + alcohol is enough to kill you.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 41 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

Please, if you’re pregnant, do not mix alcohol and Tylenol. Choose one or the other*.

*i am not a doctor. This is not medical advice

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I choose alcohol and tylenol and no pregnancy

This is the way.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Don't drink alcohol pregnant..

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I didn't know alcohol could get pregnant.

Even a single gram can be fatal if fired at sufficient velocity!

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago

So I heard alcohol increases the rate of birth defects but pregnancy increases the risk of alcohol and alcohol increases the risk of pregnancy it's recursive!

Yeah that's 3 days worth of Tylenol at one every six hours even waking up to take one overnight. You need serious pain to justify that.

And while you might get away with 2 in one dose once or twice if you take it infrequently, the harm is cumulative so don't be trying to claim you can do that for days on end.

Baby won't get born at all if Mama dies of organ failure

Make sure you ask your husband or an opinionated older white man first!

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 36 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Now that you're pregnant, you'll need to run all your decisions past someone with rights, like your husband or a congressman.

[–] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm sorry misinformed peasant but as soon as a female embryo exists it needs male guardianship. Can't leave that incubator unattended!

Back when gaza war started, someone in the comments referred to Jews as a race. I felt like correcting them, literally copy-pasted a line from wikipedia that says they're ethnoreligious group, not a race. I was banned permamently for hate speech/bigotry.

[–] bigFab@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

How dare you bring universally accepted facts to a modern discussion. That's fucking antisemitic.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There is only one human race —Homosapiensapiens.

Jewish is both an ethnicity (what people think of as race) and a religion.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 1 week ago

they also have associated genetic disease more pervasive/exclusive in thier populations than others

[–] crmsnbleyd@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

race is a social construct, I don't think wikipedia would have a definitive list of races

[–] REDACTED 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

I'm not sure I'm following your argument. Almost everything is a social construct to humans, that does not make it un-true. I feel like this is one of those anarchistic things people say just to appear smart, while in reality it's meaningless.

[–] groet@feddit.org 6 points 1 week ago

When you talk about they stock market you know it is an invention by humans. Same with things like nationality, or ideologies etc.

Race has this veil of credibility. People think it is an actually scientific term rooted in biology. People think you can look at someones DNA and see if they are black/white/Asian. You can not! It is not a scientific term. There is no biological way to separate people into races. It is a social construct that acts like it is not.

[–] crmsnbleyd@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

What race someone is literally depends on what people think. There's no scientific way to establish the race of someone. A popular example is that Italians and Irish were not considered white.

Idk how you can't follow my argument, it's clearly about the fact that it's not definitive whether Jews are a race or not. It is definitive that they are an ethnic group because you can establish that via culture and heritage and language and obviously, religion.

I think Indians and Taiwanese look very different and don't have a similar origin, but people would say they're both "Asians" by race.

[–] halferect@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean you are kinda wrong too

[–] REDACTED 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Elaborate.

Just in case, this is where I copied it from, the very first sentence; https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jews

[–] halferect@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Because I would consider jews a ethnic group since you can be Jewish and have no religious ties and ethnoreligious implies religious ties. So really you need to say secular jews or religious jews. Wikipedia obviously just groups it all together

I'm not pregnant, but I intentionally reached for the Tylenol yesterday for a headache.

I never hesitated or thought twice about whether I should take it, and the thought that taking Tylenol would harm me didn't cross my mind.

Acetaminophen is not the problem that some people seem to want to make it out to be.

What did bother me is that the Epstein files are not public right now. Convict and man in the Epstein files, Donald Trump, should go ahead and release them.

[–] Animated_beans@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (7 children)

The autism claims are unfounded BS, but Acetaminophen is problematic for your liver. Small doses are fine, but a dose the size in the post could cause severe harm or death

[–] AmanitaCaesarea@slrpnk.net 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Why is this trending so much lately? I only know it's autism candy or something

[–] JandroDelSol@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

rfk jr is claiming that Tylenol (not acetaminophen, specifically Tylenol) causes autism and not vaccines lol

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

The real active ingredient was the BRANDING.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (4 children)

What drug is Tylenol because I always just assumed it was an antihistamine but apparently it's a painkiller?

[–] Fuck_u_spez_@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 week ago

It's just the most popular American brand of paracetamol/acetaminophen/APAP. It's also the only synonym for the drug that our President knows how to pronounce.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Lol yes, it’s a painkiller haha. Fairly mild, too, but usually the extra-strength version is what you’ll get after surgeries and stuff.

Benadryl is the kleenex of anti-allergy meds.

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Tylenol is an extremely common and successful brand of pain relief medicine sold until very recently by Johnson & Johnson. The active ingredient is N-acetyl-para-aminophenol. This has been variously shortened to Acetaminophen, Paracetamol, or indeed Tylenol. Other medicines are sold under the Tylenol brand, such as Tylenol PM which is Acetaminophen and Dyphenhydramine (the drowsiness medication with a side effect of allergy relief that powers Benadryl and Sominex).

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Here in Europe I've only ever seen it sold as paracetamol, and it tends to just be generic supermarket brand. Looking in my medicine, random keys, and elastic bands draw (everyone has one) even my allergen medication is just sold as antihistamine, with no branding.

Be carefull! The baby can become a dogwalker!!

[–] rockettaco37@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I love how they chose fucking acetaminophen as a drug to go after. Probably one of the literal safest OTC drugs, and we've known that for nearly half a century.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It kills your liver if you use it for prolonged periods of time.... But totally unrelated. Just remember to drink enough water and you'll be fine.

[–] davad@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Also don't take more than the recommended max dosage. Taking 10 grams of acetaminophen in 24 hours is enough for possible fatal liver damage. That's 20 to 30 pills, depending on dosage.

For comparison, ibuprofen has an LD50 of 636mg/kg of body weight. For 70kg bodyweight, that means consuming over 40 grams of ibuprofen (200+ regular strength pills).
