Someone buying from that machine that regularly either has no money problems or doesnt realise how much cheaper it would be to buy them from a grocery store, and even better in bulk.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 6 days ago

But I wanna gamble with the possibility that the bag gets stuck and I've wasted my money.

Made me realize how similar cable is to the Spanish and Portuguese for “hair” (cabello and cabelo, resp.). And how cables and hair are related too, I suppose.

[–] sugarfoot00@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Isn't Spanish for cable just cable (Cah-blay)? That's what I've seen used in Mexico.

[–] LanguageIsCool@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

I think so, yeah. Seeing cable misspelled as “cabel” made it click lol

That’s so accurate how’d you find that character

[–] MisterFrog@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

I feel like the original commenter didn't really provide what I think you're looking for.

A service that does something I think you might find useful is something like this: https://shapecatcher.com/

If you're a learner/speaker of Chinese (or Japanese, I think? I assume they use this character also) then this character is very basic so quickly comes to mind (大 dà: "big").

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

lol it doesn't support japanese/korean/chinese characters, so like precisely what people would want to use it for

[–] MisterFrog@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

A better suggestion for Chinese is Pleco, but you have to download an app for that (if one is learning Chinese, one would already have this)

I'm keen to find something else for universal unicode character recognition, but haven't extensively searched.

If you have any suggestions, feel free

It's typically pronounced Tai/Dai in Japanese (大成功, daiseiko, 大変, taihen), or "oo" in the case of 大きい/大きな (ookii/ookina).

[–] dutchkimble@lemy.lol 1 points 1 week ago

Thanks for that! Useful to know

[–] letsgo@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

I thought that was a t. Took me a while to figure out that "Cheetos bait" isn't a thing.

Power Cabels

[–] Floodedwomb@lemmy.world 67 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Call the bluff.I don't think this guy is smart enough to unplug the machine first.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He'll just pop a hole in his cutters, mission still accomplished

Don't try this at home. I've lost a lot of strippers this way.

[–] Lawyerator@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Those poor strippers were one week from retirement, too!

I've definitely worked with someone who made that joke every time he popped a hole in his cutters. I need to remember that when I can afford a helper to tell jokes to.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 6 points 1 week ago

Dammit Sindee, you're a loose cannon!

[–] Denixen@feddit.nu 44 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Hehe this is the same "negotiation tactic" Trump uses. Sorry to bring politics in here.

[–] sugarfoot00@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 days ago

As a Canadian vending machine, the Cheetos removal may well have been political in the first place. I notice just about everything in there is made in Canada, unlike Cheetos.

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 50 points 1 week ago

Almost. He'd break the glass and steal all the Cheetos with no warning, and then declare that Cheeto theft is through the roof. Then he'd demand that Mr Cheeto needs to make it right by selling Cheetos at a 80% discount. Then Mr. Cheeto will donate a mill dollars to his campaign and he'll wander off in search of his next victim.

Since the vending machine was trashed they just removed it without replacing it.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 week ago

So sad that that is probably their real price. A snack size bag of chips was .50 not that long ago.

[–] Windex007@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

You have 1 week.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 31 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The big problem with this demand is that there is no date to comply.

I would have no idea if the demand was put up three days, that day, or almost a week ago. Then I get mad when the cheetos are put in a week after I made the demand.

If your going to make threats, make sure that you set a proper deadline.

[–] sugarfoot00@lemmy.ca 8 points 6 days ago

If I was the vendor, I'd stock the whole thing with Cheetos and then snip the cord myself. Fuck that guy.

As an aside, this appears to be a Canadian vending machine (Miss Vickies, Lays flavours made in Canada, Canadian chocolate bars), so the Cheeto switch may have been political.

So to this guy- Get used to superior Hawkins Cheezies, and elbows up.

Game on. I own a bag of wire nuts and I know how to use them.

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Threaten me with a good time!?

That sounds more like an invitation...

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I have come close to leveling the same ultimatum, except it was to remove those goddamn chili-cheese Fritos.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You're outta your mind. Chili-cheese Fritos are fucking amazing.

This is why I don't believe taste is subjective, you're clearly trolling. At best an actual human being might grudgingly call them mid.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I bet he spells “lose” as “loose”

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

"Loser" correct and boring.

"Looser" is cool because it has two o's in it.

[–] Resol@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Someone forgot to install the punctuation DLC (except that full stop which is basically included with the base game).
